COTIDIANUL
Heavy snowfall has seriously disrupted transport in southern Romania, blocking highways and leaving cars stranded in the snow. Authorities, meanwhile, declare that they are doing everything they can to deal with the situation.
GANDUL
Prime Minister Emil Boc has said the government is set to issue a normative act by the end of the month temporarily exempting companies which hire unemployed people from paying social security.

The European Union executive has proposed to extend by one year, i.e. until 2012, the deadline Romania has to cut its budget deficit below the bloc's ceiling of 3 per cent of gross domestic product.
