Sarajevo | 17 December 2009 |
Police in Bosnia have arrested 35 people, including a border police officer, during a major operation which followed a five-month investigation into drug dealing, an official said on Thursday.
Some 50 locations in different parts of the country had been searched and 35 people arrested during the two-day operation which started on Tuesday, police spokeswoman Mirna Soja told Balkan Insight.
Soja confirmed that an officer of Bosnia’s border police was among the arrested.
The arrests were the result of an investigation launched in July.
During the arrest operation, police seized drugs, cash and weapons, as well as falsified identification documents and stamps.
Most suspects had been arrested in the northern towns of Brcko and Bijeljina.
The suspects are believed to have sold over 1.5 kilos of heroin over the past few months.

The issue of national identity is taken seriously by Balkan people – including the least serious among them.
