Malawi Recognises Kosovo

The Republic of Malawi has recognised Kosovo as an independent country.

Skender Hyseni, Kosovo’s foreign minister, announced on Wednesday that Malawi had submitted a note to the UN in New York stating that it had recognised the Republic of Kosovo on 14 December.

Kosovo unilaterally declared independence in February 2008 and has so far been recognised by 64 countries.

Hyseni said that the news was a good omen because it proves that recognitions would not be held up by the International Court of Justice case on whether Kosovo’s declaration of independence was legal.

The hearing at The Hague finished on 19 December after supporters of Serbia and Kosovo argued over the legality of the move. A decision is expected in April at the earliest.

Hyseni is travelling to Saudi Arabia, a kingdom that recognised Kosovo in April 2009, on Thursday, 17 December. He will meet the foreign minister, Prince Saud Al-Faisal.

Hyseni said he would use to trip to encourage other Islamic states to recognise Kosovo’s independence.

A KFOR Soldier's Frustration in Kosovo

http://www.juliagorin.com/wordpress/?p=2277 The thing that bothers me here is the Albanian Mafia. 75% unemployment and the Mercedes and BMW's are newer than mine... [A Eulex officer] told me that in Gnjilane even with the 75% unemployment, there is an average of 1500 cash deposits over 10,000 Euros monthly... What happened with the contractor was this: An Albainian speaking gibberish holding an ID of an American walked up to the main entrance of Camp Bonsteel. The guards at the gate detained him and brought down an interpreter to figure out what was going on. That's when he led the MP's to a body that had been de-organed... I was talking to a KPS officer with an interpreter who was frustrated with the level of corruption within the Police...

Tim Burton’s latest film, Alice in Wonderland, is easily his most visually stunning yet, showing just how vividly the magic can be put on the big screen. Burton has lined a top-notch cast in front of a green wall allowing him to let his imagination fly, but limiting the actors’ opportunity to give vent to their expressions.
