Serbian Officials Receive Death Threats

Broadcaster RTS reports that the letters were sent from America, and suspected that they were written by the same people who in previous years sent similar letters. The letters are signed "black eagle", "kondorov jump" and "Serbian liberation movement of Illinois''.
The Prosecution for War Crimes has reportedly received 66 threatening letters so far.
The reasons for the threats are usually related to the planned arrest of Hague indictees. Serbia is under pressure from the international community to arrest and deliver two remaining indictees, Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic, as part of its bid to join the EU.
Ljajic said that these are not the first threatening letters. "We can conclude that (the letters) were written by the same people and were sent from the same address from the same country," said Ljajic.

The issue of national identity is taken seriously by Balkan people – including the least serious among them.
