Zagreb | 14 December 2009 |
A 64-year-old man has been arrested in Croatia after police found eight kilos of marijuana hidden in his car.
The police in Zagreb had stopped the man as he was driving in a vehicle with German license plates under suspicion of possible customs violation, a statement issued by Zagreb police said.
A drug-sniffing dog had been brought to the scene after the man “acted suspiciously” and 15 packages with total of 8 kilos of marijuana were found hidden in the trunk, in the spare wheel and under the front bumper, the statement added.
Police searched the man’s house finding 53 identification documents in different names, including seven different passports and 20 different driver’s licenses. Only 19 of the documents were Croatian while the rest were the documents of different European states. Document forgery equipment was also found.
The man was believed to have planned to sell the drugs in Zagreb, police said.
They added that the arrested man was already known to police for personal documents forgery, stealing and illegal border crossing.
