He is alleged to have cost the country 120,000 dollars (80,000 euros), the statement said.
Jurica served as ambassador to Washington from 2004 to 2008, and was representative to the United Nations from February 2008 to September 2009.
He was dismissed in September by President Stipe Mesic after allegations of corruption emerged in the media and he had asked to stop work for health reasons.
The fight against corruption and judicial reforms are among Croatia's chief requirements for entry into the European Union by 2011.
