OSLOBODJENJE
US Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg held Wednesday in Sarajevo a number of bilateral meetings with leaders of the country’s strongest political parties representing Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim), Croat and Serb people. Statements by leaders after the meetings reveal that they remain deeply divided about a joint US and EU proposal for the reform of Bosnia’s constitution despite nearly two months of intense diplomatic activity.

Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia have finalised an agreement that will ensure the enforcement of final court verdicts for persons holding dual citizenship and are expected to sign it by the end of this year. Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia do not allow extradition of their citizens even when they have been convicted in another country. This had been abused by a number of convicts with dual citizenships. At the moment 46 persons convicted by Croatian courts are hiding in Bosnia. At the same time 106 Bosnian convicts are hiding in Croatia, 100 in Serbia and 24 in Montenegro.

Cigarette prices in Bosnia, which are among the lowest in the region, are expected to grow as of 1 January, 2010 by up to 25 eurocents.
