Macedonia Press Review – November 25
Skopje | 25 November 2009 | Sinisa-Jakov Marusic
In its text dubbed “neither veto nor negotiations”, the daily cites unnamed European diplomat as saying that Greece will not put a veto to Macedonia’s date for EU accession talks in December. Instead of this, and rather than risk a Greek veto, the EU will decide to postpone by a few months the granting of a start date for EU accession negotiations.

The Bulgarian authorities are pressing for their demands from Macedonia to be fulfilled before the EU decides to grant accession talks to the country, the daily cites unnamed sources as saying. They are pushing for the 1990 bilateral declaration on good neighborly relations to be lifted to a state agreement thus ensuring that Macedonia would respect its provisions. In the already signed declaration both countries pledge not to take or support hostile actions against each other.

The issue of national identity is taken seriously by Balkan people – including the least serious among them.
