Montenegro's tourism industry is not satisfied with the previous tourist season, a survey show, despite official data showing a rise in earnings.

The survey was conducted by the Union of Employers of Montenegro among its 89 members.

The Union's economic adviser Ana Karanikic says that 63 per cent of respondents rated the extent of their business as "bad", 18 per cent said that they operated better than last year, while 19 per cent said it was in the range of last year's results.

"The results may however be considered good, when taken into consideration the impact of the global economic crisis," Tanjug news agency quoted Karanikic as saying.

According to official data, Montenegro earned some 480 million euros from last summer's tourist season which is nine million more than last year.

However, 62.5 per cent of the respondents said that this year, in high season, from June to August, demand for tourist products and services was significantly reduced.

When it comes to salaries, Montenegrins are less satisfied, because about 90 per cent of them stated that their revenue was in decline compared to last season.

"They blame lack of adequte promotion in regional and international markets." Maybe they should blame themselves insteade? Who wants to vacation in a country where everything is expensive, service is bad, no water 24 hours a day, no electricity all day and poor infrastructure ? In addition to all this, pay prices that are higher than in Greece or Bulgaria. I can't see how tourism in Montenegro can increase if they don't change their own minds, it has nothing to do with "lack of advertising"
