First Swine Flu Victim in Kosovo

Kosovo’s Ministry of Health confirmed on Saturday the first victim of the H1N1 virus.

Pristina hospital said that the 31-year-old man, who was suffering other health problems such as cardio-respiratory problems and immunity deficiency, died on Saturday of Swine Flu.
The Ministry of Health reported that the victim was hospitalised on November 12 and treated with Tamiflu.
Some 18 patients have been infected by the H1N1 virus in recent weeks and are being treated in hospital.
“All the patients are in a stabile health condition,” Dr Naser Ramadani, director of the National Institute of Public Health, NIPH, told Balkan Insight. But he added that yesterday alone, four people were confirmed to be infected by the H1N1 virus.
According to Dr Ramadani, the NIPH has registered 39 people infected by H1N1 since July 2009.
The Ministry of Health is calling on people not to panic and appealed for protective measures to be taken.
