New Zealand Recognises Kosovo

New Zealand has become the 63rd country to recognisne Kosovo's independence.

Kosovo's Foreign Minister Skender Hyseni confirmed on Monday that he had received a diplomatic note confirming recognition from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand.

New Zealand is the 63 state out of the 192 United Nations member states to recognise Kosovo's declaration of independence on February 17, 2008.

A further 11 countries have indicated that they will do so in the future.

The legality of Kosovo's unilateral declaration will be tested at the International Court of Justice in December, following a request from Serbia to look into the matter.
