Speaking at a commemoration in Belgrade marking 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, President Boris Tadic said that walls in Western Balkans will be broken down when the region joins the EU. He added that Serbia had torn down its 'Berlin Wall' on October 5, 2000, by overcoming the undemocratic regime of Slobodan Milosevic.

German Ambassador to Belgrade Wolfram Maas said that Serbia has met the conditions on order to progress towards the EU, adding that Kosovo and Netherlands are not obstacles on the country's EU path.

The situation in the ten municipalities of western Serbia, which were flooded during the weekend, is slowly getting better. However, dozens of families had to flee their homes and hundreds of households are yet to face the damages of the floods. The Serbian government has pledged a one-off financial assistance to all families that have suffered serious damages.




The issue of national identity is taken seriously by Balkan people – including the least serious among them.
