| 03 November 2009 |Romania's Health Ministry has decided to place under quarantine all hospitals in the country due to the threat of swine flu. Antiviral medicines will be delivered to hospitals, which will also get additional funding for purchasing surgical masks and disinfectants.

A latest poll shows that the president of leftist Social Democratic Party, PSD, Mircea Geoana is now the favourite to defeat incumbent President Traian Basescu in the 22 November presidential election. Around 33 per cent of voters said they will vote Geoana, while Basescu is supported by 32 per cent of voters.

Only two or three state-owned companies will keep receiving state subsidies in 2010 as the International Monetary Fund has asked the government to stop offering state aid to 10 loss making firms under monitoring, deputy Economy Minister Tudor Serban was quoted as saying.




The issue of national identity is taken seriously by Balkan people – including the least serious among them.
