The special session of the Serbian parliament, at which Turkish President Abdullah Gul was supposed to speak, has been canceled. The leader of the New Serbia political party Velimir Ilic, said that members of the parliamentary opposition had informed Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic that it would not be appropriate to allow the president of a country that has recognised Kosovo's independence to address the legislature. Djukic-Dejanovic said that the cancellation has nothing to do with the opposition's stance but that Gul's schedule had changed.
