Zagreb
On Thursday, 6 October, World Pedestrian Day, pharmaceutical company Pliva will launch  an "I love walking" initiative to stress how important walking is to one’s health.

Pliva is calling on all Croatians to join in the event, because they will be doing something good for themselves and others. Walking for only 30 minutes a day is excellent for one’s health, the company stresses.

Pliva will donate one kuna, or 0.13 euros, to the Croatian Mountain Service for each kilometre walked, the Croatian Times reports.

Four Croatian cities: Zagreb, Osijek, Rijeka and Split, will participate and have marked special pedestrian routes.

The Croatian Health Ministry is supporting the initiative.

Pedestrian Day is also meant to draw attention to pedestrian safety and attempts to improve the environment for walking.
