The Serbian National Movement, based in Banja Luka, Bosnia, has put up posters in nine cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, wishing war crimes suspect Radovan Karadzic a happy birthday.

BIRN's Justice Report has learnt that the posters, featuring Radovan Karadzic’s picture and “Happy birthday, President!”, appeared in Bosanski Novi, Prijedor, Gradiska, Banja Luka, Doboj, Brcko, Bijeljina, Vlasenica and Pale.

Members of the Serbian National Movement Izbor je Nas (The Choice is Ours), are behind the campaign.

Justice Report has discovered that the posters in Banja Luka and Bijeljina downtown area have already been removed. The ones in Brcko are expected to be removed soon.

Halid Emkic, spokesperson of the Brcko district police, said: “The team has taken the measures and actions in order to document the incident. The prosecutor has been informed about it. Measures will be taken to remove the posters.”

Tijana Savic, spokesperson for the RS Police, said police had received a report on some posters having been put up in Bijeljina only.

“The prosecution claims that there is no evidence of a criminal act and the posters have been removed,” Savic said.

Dane Cankovic, the movement's president, told Justice Report: “In this way we are showing that we have not forgotten the person who deserves the credit for establishment of Republika Srpska and defence of the Serbian people. We have undertaken this action in order to show that we have not forgotten him. We wished him a happy birthday, which is a civilised act. We are hoping that Radovan Karadzic will be glad to see this.”

Karadzic, the first President of Republika Srpska and Supreme Commander of the RS Armed Forces, has been charged with genocide, crimes against humanity and violation of laws and practices of warfare. After having been on the run for years, he was arrested in Belgrade in July 2008. His trial is expected to begin at The Hague in the coming months.

“Radovan Karadzic is a political visionary, humanist and peacemaker. He fights for the truth. So, help us God, the Hague Tribunal will render a verdict of not guilty after it sees the evidence he presents,” Cankovic said

Karadzic was born on June 19, 1945, in the village of Petnjica, in Montenegro.

Yeah, Dr. Radovan Karadzic is such a princve of a fellow, why don't they nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize? And all in all, the Serbs, especially the Bosnian and Kosovo Serbs are the Chosen People, the most noble and most human people in the world, why not give them ALL of the former Yugoslavia? And a few chunks of Bulgaria and Hungary and Albania as well?

He's a war criminal
2009-06-20 20:01:50
I wish he lives long enough to see himself be pronounced guilty of committing the worst war crimes in Europe since the Holocaust after which he dies in his his prison cell like the true criminal that he is.

Happy birthday?

Karadzic is evil incarnate, like Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein and Hitler. May he rot in jail forever.

We knew what Karadzic is all along
2009-06-23 01:45:26
People like Radovan Karadzic and his supporters and backers and all those who stand for him have already been mentioned in the Holy Qur'an: "In the Name of God the Compassionate and All-Merciful Perish the hands of the Father of the Flame! Perish he! No avail to him from his profits, and no gain! Burn shall he in a fire of searing flames, And his wife must bring the firewood, with a rope of palm fronds around her neck!" May that man and all who are on his side never find peace, not in this life and certainly not in the next, may the evil they desire for the Bosniaks come down on their own heads. But I do have to admit that this was what made me turn towards the True Faith. Very ironic that, in a way, I'd have to thank "Dr. Dabic" for that.

Karadjic

"Karadzic is evil incarnate, like Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein and Hitler. May he rot in jail forever." Antifascist Be careful, your immense hatred is showing. And you call yourself antifascist. How on earth can you compare Karadjic to the people you mentioned is beyond me? Please show us what makes him the same as the others. Has he killed 6 million Albanians? I know you hate Serbs and everything Serbian. That much is obvious but please at least don't pull rubbish out like that. You have to convince people with facts not your emotions. BTW, how many people have your heroes like Oric or Celo killed? How many people is Tudjaman guilty of killing because of operation storm?

Peggy the pathetic defender of Greater Serbia

Your immense hatred of Bosniaks and Muslims shows in every single word you write here. If Karadzic did not kill 6 milliion peopel then only because in Bosnia there aren't so many around. But he is responsible for the dead of the Bosnian war. If there had been only 5000 Bosniaks before the wqar and he had 1000 of them killed and 2000 expelled from the country, THAT would ALREADY be GENOCIDE! Yes, I call myself Antifascist. I am against racism, Islamophobia and xenophobia. I hate the Serbofascists, NOT ALL THE SERBS! And rightly so! There are some Serbs who are truly ashamed for the anti-Bosniak crusade of 1992-95. And all my sympathies go to them, NOT to the likes of you. What is it to you? And if there is asomething that particularly disgusts me about Karadzic and the likes of you it is that flamboyant behavior, that cynical arrogance, that total disregard and scorn for the victims of the anti-Bosniak crusader, the sanctimonious bluster, self-victimization and self-justification with which you say that the anti-Bosniak crusade was good and right and necessary and that now the Bosniaks have to be suppressed by other means. Ah, but they refuse to go along. Now, if they become the stronger, which obver time they will, what will you say when they apply the same to you? That's what I would really like to know, but on that you will stand mute.

Take it easy man. You will burst a blood vessel. Just because I write against Oric and Celo doesn't make me a hater of everything Muslim or Croat. How about you put your money where your mouth is and stop bashing everything and everyone Serbian for a minute. You talk the talk but you don't walk the walk. I will continue to speak up against Celo and Oric and Tudjman and Izetbegovic because they have blood on their hands as much as some Serbs do. I never said that all Serbs are innocent but looks like you are saying that all Muslims are innocent by not condemning these monsters. So if you want to be taken seriously, do condemn your own as well.

"self-justification with which you say that the anti-Bosniak crusade was good and right and necessary and that now the Bosniaks have to be suppressed by other means" When did I say this? Either show me where these words were uttered by me or shut up for once. I know you have a problem with me and will go to any lengths to discredit me but since I havne't said anything resembling the garbage you accuse me of you need to invent something. Just because I won't stay silent and let you get away with constant Serb bashing is no reason to distort what I say and like in this case totally fabricate things. I have never said that Bosnian Muslims deserved to be exterminated or like. What I did say is that it was not genocide. All three sides took part in ethnic cleansing and murder and that's a fact you cannot deny. Stop labelling me racist when clearly it is you who is full of hate towards the Serbs and goes into a frenzy when someone tries to point out that all three sides are equally guilty and victims. If we are going to allocate blame then be fair and allocate to all as all are guilty.

So all are guilty
2009-06-25 10:33:37
You hypocrite, then nobody is. Besides that, if the ICJ has decisded that the Bosnian Serbs are to blame, and that Serbia failed to prevent genocide in Srebrenica then teh aggressor and teh victim are clearly named. But it is not with words on the internet, but with facts on the ground that the truth is established. Now tell me how you think your sdide will get the Bosniaks to relinquish half of the country? With wehat will they force the Bosniaks to do so?

With what are the Serbs going to force the Bosniaks?
2009-06-26 00:07:21
Peggy, I see you have not answered that one, because you have nothing to stand on. I bet even your beloved Dodik has no idea. With what is he going to, with what would you force the Bosniaks to acquiesce to you? Anyway, Bosnia is Bosnia, it is not Serbia nor Croatia.

Burton has lined a top-notch cast in front of a green wall allowing him to let his imagination fly, but limiting the actors’ opportunity to give vent to their expressions.
