Bozic et al: First Instance Verdict Confirmed

The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms the first instance verdict, sentencing Mladen Blagojevic to seven years in prison and acquitting Zdravko Bozic, Zoran Zivanovic and Zeljko Zaric of the charges that they committed war crimes in the Srebrenica area.

ROMANIA LIBERA
Romanian authorities condemn a racist attack involving 130 Romanian nationals in Northern Ireland. Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that none of the Romanians in the Belfast area requested consular assistance, adding the attacks did not target Romanians specifically, but foreigners in certain areas of Belfast.

COTIDIANUL
Prosecutors have dropped genocide charges against former president Ion Iliescu over the 1990 storming of capital Bucharest by miners during the country's transition from communism. Prosecutors have been investigating allegations by associations of the victims of the violence that around 100 people were killed and secretly buried without documents.

BUSINESS STANDARD
The drop in Romania's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) could be up to 6.5% this year if the economy fails to show signs of revival soon, according to Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea. This is the grimmest statement made by a Romanian official to date regarding the economic situation in 2009. According to a stand-by agreement signed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) earlier this year, Romania’s economy was set to plunge 4.2% this year.
