DNEVNI AVAZ

- The Bosniak member of Bosnia’s tripartite presidency and leader of the Party for BiH, Haris Silajdzic, has publicly criticised and challenged constitutional amendments, which have been passed by the Bosnian Parliament in the first reading, which regulate the status of Brcko district. Other local and international officials have said that Silajdzic and his party may attempt to block the adoption of said amendments in the second reading, for what Silajdzic’s political counterparts say are his narrow political interests.

-Leader of the strongest Bosnian Croat HDZ party, Dragan Covic, warned that the budget of the Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim)-Croat entity of Federation will imminently collapse within the next five months, as a result of excessive public spending and lack of instruments that could halt the fast-spreading economic and social crisis.

NEZAVISNE NOVINE

-Leaders of the Bosnian Serb three-party ruling coalition have held a meeting to start planning and preparing a joint political program and platform for the 2010 general elections. The leader of this coalition and the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, Milorad Dodik, said that this successful coalition will sketch the future of the Serb-dominated entity of Republika Srpska.

- Due to the worsening economic and social situation, and perceived monopolistic position of some war veterans and invalid associations in the Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim)-Croat entity of Federation, new tensions and quarrels are appearing among some old and some new representatives of this social group
