Pristina _ Kosovo’s senior leaders announced that they will reject a plan that will regulate the future work of the UN Mission in Kosovo and hence pave the way for the deployment of the EU's Rule of Law Mission to the country.

In and extraordinary press conference Monday evening, Kosovo’s head of state, Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci said that the current plan, which has been agreed upon by Belgrade, breaches Kosovo's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

They said that the proposal breaches the Ahtisaari plan (for Kosovo's independence), seeks to re-establish UN Resolution 1244 which stipulates that Kosovo is a part of Serbia and is therefore not acceptable.

Earlier in the day the French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner urged Kosovo's leaders to accept the proposal. Read more: http://www.balkaninsight.com/en/main/news/14688/

The EU's representative for Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana said on Monday that he expects there will be an agreement by the end of the week.

But Kosovo's leaders said that Pristina has been excluded from negotiations between the EU and Belgrade.

The fact that there is no agreement yet from Kosovo means that the UN Secretary General's expected statement on Kosovo and EULEX's deployment on Tuesday will be postponed.

On the other hand, EU representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Javier Solana declared after the meeting with the Council of Ministers of the EU on Monday that he expects an agreement for EULEX settlement until the end of the week.

NO MEANS NO period. Of course Kosovo rejects it, the constitution of Kosovo is enforced upon all areas not just some. This is a ridiculous proposal.

Yes, it is ridiculous indeed Jenna Smyth. How much longer will decisions regarding Kosova be made in Belgrade. I think my fellow Kosovans should tell the UN and the EU to step off.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT KOSOVANS HAD SHOWN THAT THEY ARE AN INDEPNDENT COUNTRY AND IF THERE IS A NEED TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR KOSOVO'S CITIZENS THE ADDRESS IS PRISHTINA NOT BELGRADE, NO MORE, AND VERY GOOD SIGN OF UNITY AMONG POLITICIANS AND CIVIL SOCIETY.

Only Serbia

Kosovo is Serbian province. Thus, legally, only Serbia may decide what should and should not happend there. Albanians are just a minority as any minority in any European Country.

If you wanna get technical about it, Serbia holds no rights to make decisions about Kosovo either, that right is reserved to the UN security council. Just as it is illegal for Eulex to negotiate with Prishtina, it is also illegal for EULEX to negotiate with Belgrade ;), don't forget that Belgrade has no right to the Kosovo territory either chief.
