French Film Festival Opens in Macedonia

16 movies will be presented during the five day-long festival.
The Golden Mask award for life time achievement will be presented to the famous French filmmaker Claude Lelouch who is also set to arrive in Ohrid for the occasion.
A so-called ‘lake meeting’ will be held between French and Balkans producers in boost cooperation between the two.
The festival backed by French Foreign Ministry and Macedonian Ministry of Culture as well as by several other institutions is envisaged to happen every year at the beginning of July. It is set to put Ohrid on the world film festival map together with Venice, Cannes or Berlin.
The event will be launched by Macedonia’s Minister of Culture Arifhikmet Xhemaili and French ambassador to Skopje, Bernard Valero.
The start of the festival this year coincides with the beginning of the French presidency of the European Union.
