02 March 2010 | By Nidzara Ahmetasevic

Radovan Karadzic Radovan Karadzic, Sarajevo is not your city, and you have no right to say that it is, just as you do not have the right to say in public, even if it’s in court, that someone has dug up bones around Bosnia and brought them to Srebrenica to make a fake graveyard. This is insulting.

New Social Democratic Party
Acronym: NSDP

Formed in 1997 after a merger between the Liberal Party and the Democratic Party, the party is a traditional partner of the Social Democrats. The first leader, Petar Goshev, was last president of the former League of Communists of Macedonia.

At the 2002 elections, after former mayor of Skopje Risto Penov took over, the party won 12 seats as part of the “Together for Macedonia” alliance. Until 2006, it was part of the ruling coalition with the Social Democrats and DUI.

After the 2006 elections, the former defence minister, Jovo Manasievski, was elected president. He has continued the Social Democrat alliance and the party was part of the “Sun, for European Macedonia” coalition that lost the June 2008 general election to VMRO.

The party is running on its own in these polls with its own presidential and mayoral candidates. Although generally critical of the ruling VMRO DPMNE-led coalition, the party recently exchanged sparks with the SDSM, claiming the larger party had attempted to bribe them to stay in its bloc.
