Majority Live in Abject Poverty

The Roma population in EU member states still experience high levels of discrimination and poverty, according to a 2009 report published by EU-MIDIS, the European Union agency for fundamental rights.

This view was voiced in an earlier European Commission report, published in 2008, that stresses Roma populations face deeply entrenched discrimination, social exclusion and are exposed to high levels of poverty inside EU member states.
