At a trial for crimes committed in Hadzici, a prosecution witness said that one of the defendants, Mirsad Sabic, came to the primary school in Pazaric, where imprisoned Serbs were held, but he was not unpleasant to anyone.
Vasilije Krunic began his testimony at a Sarajevo court on May 31 regarding his detention in the municipality of Hadzici near Sarajevo, and was cross-examined by the defence teams of eight Bosniaks charged with crimes in that area between 1992 and 1995.
Miodrag Stojanovic, the lawyer of Sabic, asked the witness who he saw during his detention in the primary school in Pazaric, where he was held in 1992.
“Sabic entered the school in Pazaric on several occasions, but he was not unpleasant to anyone,” said Krunic.
Beside Sabic, the prosecution charged Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember with crimes against civilians and prisoners of war in the Krupa barracks, the May 9 primary school, and the Silos camp.
The Silos camp was one of the longest running concentration camps during the Bosnian war.
According to the indictment, Mirsad Sabic was a commander at the Pazaric police station and Serif Mesanovic was a warden at the Silos camp and the Krupa barracks prison.
According to the indictment, between 1992 and 1996, as representatives of civilian, army and police authorities, the accused engaged in a systematic joint criminal enterprise, where they committed crimes against Serb civilians and prisoners of war.
Refik Serdarevic, the lawyer for Mesanovic, asked Krunic whether his client beat him or other detainees in the Krupa prison.
Krunic replied that following his testimony on May 31, people called and gave him the names of people he had beaten.
Edina Residovic, the lawyer for Djelilovic, said that the witness should be warned not to consult with other witnesses.
The presiding judge, Minka Kreho, warned the witness not to talk to other witnesses during trial. Krunic said that during the previous hearing, he was not made aware not to talk to other witnesses.
The trial is set to resume on June 14.
