WAZ Enters Albania's Market
Tirana _German based media powerhouse, WAZ, has entered the Albanian market after buying a minority stake in the Albanian broadcaster Vizion +.
Both parties declined to disclose the sale price.
“Albania is a notably fast-growing market with a high potential and our holding in Vizion + fits well in our strategy in Southeast Europe,” said Stephan Holthoff, the chief representative of the holding group.
The acquisition represent the first time Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung has entered a South East European country by acquiring a TV station. WAZ owns a number of media outlets in the region.
Vizion+ is a family orientated TV channel, which broadcasts news, political talk shows as well as entertainment programmes.
