Two Men Suspected of Visegrad Crimes Arrested

Police arrested two men on Tuesday under a warrant from the Bosnian Prosecution on suspicion of having committed crimes against humanity in Visegrad and Sokolac in 1992.

Bosnia's State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA arrested the two suspects, identified only by the initials P.M. and T.LJ., in the Visegrad area.

P.M. is suspected of having participated in the killings of dozens of Bosniak civilians near the Paklenik pit in Sokolac municipality.

He is also suspected of having beaten civilians in Crni Vrh village and in “Orahovci” school building in the Visegrad area and of having played a role in the forcible resettlement of people from Visegrad and its surroundings to Iseric Brdo.

The State Prosecution said it suspects T.LJ. of having taken part in the forcible resettlement of more than 500 Bosniaks from Donji and Gornji Dubovik, Zagre, Smrijecje, Veletovo and Haniste villages, in Visegrad municipality.

Following their examination, a prosecutor will decide whether to file a custody order for the suspects or not.

The Prosecution said that the identity of the arrested persons could not be revealed as yet.
