Che Guevara’s daughter Aleida will also be one of the guests at the annual Subversive Festival, which includes film screenings, talks, forum discussions and a book fair, running from May 4-18.

Stone will present his recent documentary series, ‘The Untold Story of the United States’, an account of some of the darkest moments in US history from World War Two to the present day.

Tsipras, the head of Greece’s leftist SYRIZA parliamentary group, will take part in a debate at the festival.

“For the last several years, the Subversive forum became one of the key European mobilisation points for activists and intellectuals from the region and the world, thinking jointly how to build better social systems,” the organisers said in a press release.

Other participants at the sixth annual festival will include writers and philosophers like Slavoj Zizek, Bernard Stiegler and Tariq Ali.
