Over the next ten years, Montenegro is expected to experience the world’s fastest growth in the contribution of travel and tourism to GDP, at 12.4 per cent a year, a recent report shows.
With an average annual growth in the contribution of tourism to GDP at 10.9 per cent by 2021, Montenegro tops the global rankings of 181 countries, the World Travel and Tourism Council, WTTC has announced in its latest report.

This year, 1.12 million foreign tourists are expected to visit Montenegro, the report says, which will generate €633.8 million.
When it comes to employment, the travel and tourism industry will directly contribute to creating 25,000 new jobs over the next ten years, which makes an increase of 13,000, the WTTC predicts.
“The total contribution to employment will result in the creation of 62,000 jobs by 2021, which represents 33.2 per cent of total employment in Montenegro or 9.4 per cent growth over the next ten years,” the report concludes.
