Mancevski is one of the laureates of the festival from previous years who received an invitation from festival director Alberto Barbera to make a contribution.

The topic of the movies being specially filmed for the festival is "The Future of Cinematography".

Mancevski has form at the festival in Venice, having won the Golden Lion in 1994 with his movie Before the Rain (Пред дождот).  Seven years later, he opened the festival with another movie, Dust (Прашина).

Last year, Mancevski was a member of the jury at the 69th Venice International Film Festival in the “Orizzonti” ("Horizons") section, one of two competing sections within the festival’s official selection.

The scenario for the new short movie that was filmed in New York is written by Mancevski himself, the producer is Aaron Levin, while young actress Lora Lasi plays the lead. The director of photography is Una Li, while the music is composed by Igor Vasilev Novogradska.

The festival will take place from August 28 to September 7.
