Seven people, including two Tunisian nationals and a Republika Srpska TV reporter, were stabbed at a New Year's Eve party in Belgrade's Republic Square.
Police said that seven people were hospitalized after receiving knife wounds from an unidentified person shortly before midnight on Belgrade's main square during the New Year celebrations.
The injured persons included two Tunisian nationals and a Republika Srpska TV reporter. All are now in a stable condition.
Police are still seeking the perpetrator, who they believe is mentally unstable. They said surveillance cameras had recorded the incident, but said that the presence of large crowds of people on Republic Square hindered the chase after the attacker fled.
Goran Stamenkovic, from Belgrade police, said the man stabbed people at random as be passed them by, "while other revelers didn't even notice".
Several thousand people gathered on the square where the city traditionally organises a rock concert for the New Year celebrations.
In two high-profile war crimes trials currently ongoing in Pristina, a series of witnesses have retracted previous statements alleging abuse at Kosovo Liberation Army detention centres.
