From November 15 to November 17 the Goethe-Institut's “Special people” (Posebni ljudi) event takes place at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade.
This event focuses on disabled people’s access to culture and aims to foster debate on their place in the society.
“Inclusion and the rights of people with special needs is one of the focus issues of the Goethe-Institute worldwide in 2010 and in Belgrade and across Serbia there are still a lot of barriers for handicapped people in daily life,” said Marlene Weck, coordinator of the project.
The Goethe-Institut is aiming to draw attention to the plight of people living with disability in Serbia but also to provide an opportunity for4 an exchange of opinion and experiences linked to disabilities. Film screenings will take place on each day of the event.
The event will end on Wednesday 17 with a debate - “Culture for everyone” - with Niko von Glasow, director of the German movie “Nobody’s perfect,” Darren Grundorf, from the Institute for Culture and Media Management in Hamburg, Darko Ivic, director of the BOSI-Festival in Belgrade, Bojana Miskovic from Živimo Zajedno and Sasa Asentic from per.art in Novi Sad.
All events are free and a disabled access ramp is available.
