Serbia Press Review - November 27, 2013

WTO rejects Serbia over GMO. Alarming warning by Fiscal Council.

Serbia will not be admitted to the World Trade Organization, WTO, this year either, while the main reason for that is that we haven't authorized trade of genetically modified foods, today's edition of Vecernje Novosti reports, citing unofficial sources in the Serbian government. One of the main conditions for Serbia's WTO membership was liberalizing GMO trade. The October 15 deadline named by WTO for Serbia to authorize GMO trade was not honored.

Proposal of the republican budget for the next year has to undergo certain changes before debate in the parliament. We need additional saving of 300 million euro, while pension reforms have to be made as soon as possible, the Fiscal Council of Serbia warns. We also need annually five billion euro for financing of the country’s minus and payment of matured credits.
