Progressives' Tabakovic on the new govt.  Serbs respect Cyrillic, write Latin. Tadic promises: Majority soon.

Belgrade

VECERNJE NOVOSTI

Jorgovanka Tabakovic of the Progressives said that the party, if it got the chance to form a government, would not give up on its programme.

BLIC

Serbian official alphabet is Cyrillic, the one that the Serbs learned to read and write as of the 11th century. In the following nine centuries the Serbs were using it exclusively, but in recent decades it is retreating leaving room to the Latin alphabet. Everybody will say to like and respect the Cyrillic, but just a quick glance at correspondence indicates that Serbs have turned to the Latin.

DANAS

Boris Tadic of the Democrats said that his party will form the parliamentary majority in a couple of days. "We are intensively negotiating all the time after parliamentary elections with all political parties except the SNS and the DSS’, Tadic said after consultations with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic.
