Parliament approves identification data law; situation in prisons worries Council of Europe; Romania might join the eurozone by 2023.

The law which allows national security and defense institutions to have quick access to the identification data of the telecom operators’ customers has been adopted by the Chamber of Deputies.

Council of Europe anti-torture committee, CPT, is concerned about numerous credible allegations of ill-treatment by persons held in Romanian prisons.

Romania could reach a “decent” level of real convergence for the accession to the euro area in by 2023, according to central bank, BNR, estimations.
