A 58-year-old Skopje resident was killed Thursday morning and two others were seriously wounded shortly thereafter when an unidentified man opened fire on them in the capital.
The police said the two shootings might have been carried out by the same person but gave no further details as to possible motives.
The man who was killed sustained several fatal gunshot wounds around 8:40 a.m. in the Skopje municipality of Butel on the premises of a local firm. The man was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.
At 9:30 the same morning, gunshots were heard in the Skopje municipality of Kisela Voda on the premises of another company that is situated in the same building as the municipal administration. Three people were injured in the second incident, two of whom were reported to have been shot and one reported to be suffering head injuries from the impact of a blunt object.
They are in a serious condition, doctors said.
Police teams have been investigating the site of incident and are working to define the circumstances of the shooting, the Ministry of Interior informed.
Local Makfax news agency cited unnamed police sources as saying that the preliminary investigation points to a single suspect in both incidents, adding that the police have his name.
There are indications, accourding to the unnamed sources, that the shooting was prompted by an unsettled debt. The findings also allegedly indicate that the two companies where the incidents took place have been involved in a lawsuit.
