The Montenegrin government has congratulated Croatia for its successful referendum on European Union membership - in English.
From its official government Twitter account, Podgorica sent a message of praise to the Croatian government, but opted to do so in English rather than in Montenegrin or Croatian, two nearly identical languages.
"Congratulations to Croatia for voting to join the EU," Podgorica wrote on Twitter.
An hour later, Zagreb responded on Twitter, also in English: "Thank you, you can count on our support and help during the negotiations with the EU. Greetings to Montenegro!"
The Montenegrin government later explained that its Twitter account is in English, and that it expects to launch a Montenegrin version this year.
In a referendum on Sunday, Croatians voted in favour of the country's membership in the European Union. Sixty-six per cent of voters supported the EU bid, and Zagreb hopes to become the 28th member of the bloc in July 2013.
Both communities in Kosovo blame politics for the trial of Fatmir Limaj - though from diametrically opposing points of view.
