Two persons believed to be involved in the incident were almost immediately detained by police, although they reportedly resisted arrest.

The incident upset bystanders and several bullets ended up in nearby stores. The site of the shootout was closed by late in the evening as the authorities gathered evidence.

According to initial police findings, the two arrested suspects met with the victim and a friend of his and entered a nearby apartment building where the killing took place.

The suspects, who reportedly belong to the criminal underground, tried to escape but were intercepted by police officers and arrested.

The men are expected to appear before an investigative judge today, while police forensic experts have begun their probe in an attempt to establish who fired the gun.

The authorities have yet to officially disclose the motive for the shooting but media have reported that those involved had an argument about a joint business.
