19,4 per cent of the respondents said they would vote for the VMRO DPMNE, led by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, while 15,1 per cent of those interviewed said they would vote for the opposition Social Democrats, SDSM.

According to the opinion poll, VMRO-DPMNE is expected to win 48 seats in the parliament, and SDSM 37.

The number of undecided voters in the poll, meanwhile, stood at 47,1 per cent.

The poll was carried out between May 26 and 28 on 1,111 respondents by the Skopje-based Institute for Democracy think tank in the framework of the "My Elections 2011" project, which is being realized in cooperation with the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation and the Macedonian Institute for Media.

In the Albanian bloc, the junior ruling Democratic Union for Integration was tipped to win the majority of votes, as previous polls have also shown. 6.9 per cent of those interviewed said they would vote for the party, which would give it 16 seats in the parliament.

3,9 per cent said they would support the opposition Democratic Party of Albanians. This would be enough for 9 MP seats.

According to the poll, three lawmakers would come from the ranks of the newly formed National Democratic Rebirth party.

United for Macedonia with its 1,3 per cent, New Democracy with 1 per cent and VMRO-People's Party with 1,1 per cent could gain two MP seats each.

With just 0,8 per cent support, LDP could also count on one lawmaker.

During the country’s 20 years of post-independence history past elections were often marred by significant controversies and allegations of fraud. As the June elections approach, doubt remains whether the friction between the two parties will allow for polls that meet international standards.
