
Cinematographers from around the world will be honoured with awards tonight in the Macedonian town of Bitola for the 32nd edition of the International Film festival “Manaki Brothers”.

The festival, which opened last Saturday with the motto “Continue watching”, brought together around 400 cinematographers, film directors, producers, actors and film fans from around the world and Macedonia.
Around 80 students from Bulgaria and from the film academy from Skopje were also in attendance.
Tonight the names of the cinematographers who have won the “Golden camera 300” awards will be announced. The competition for this award was between 10 films.
The city of Bitola will also hand out awards for the award categories “New visions” and “Small golden camera 300” for the best short film.
Miki Manojlovik, one of the most influent Yugoslav actors, who has depicted the time before and after the disintegration of Yugoslavia, is expected to be rewarded for his input in world of film art.
The winner of the Special Award Golden camera 300 for outstanding Contributing to the World film art will also be awarded to the French cinematograph Bruno Delbonnel.
Dante Spinotti, an Italian cinematograph is the winner of Lifetime Achivement Award Golden camera 300.
This year, the public established new attendance records. Each day the festival was attended by approximately 2,500 visitors, and by the end of the festival, the total attendance is expected to be around 16,000 visitors.
Most interest was attracted by the “Melanholia” directed by Lars von Trier, “The Mlin and the Cross” by Lech Majewski, “Silents souls” by Aleksei Fedorchenko, “Once upon a time in Antolia” by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, “Incendies” by Denis Villenueve, “The Turin horse” by Bela Tarr, “White white world” by Oleg Novkovic.
Based on the reactions of guests and visitors, this year’s edition of “Manaki Brothers” will be remembered, not only for the record number who attended, but also for the great atmosphere , master-class laureates and the numerous contacts among film makers that is an essence for further collaboration.
The unrepentant advocate of Yugoslavia and Socialism says time’s up for the independence projects of the ex-Yugoslav republics - none of whom have made a go of it.
The Macedonian government is into massive campaigns. Sometimes it is to advertise how hard it is working, which we all know it does 24/7, but mostly it is to tell its humble citizens the difference between right and wrong, and most importantly educate Macedonians how to behave, as they don’t seem to fit the high standards of the government.
