Macedonian Dr Fired Over Facebook Photos

“The dignity of our patient and of the emergency centre has been compromised by publishing these pictures without consent. This goes against the laws and medical ethics,” the head of the department Rexhep Selmani said on Tuesday.

The pictures of the doctor and her friend smiling in front of the camera while a passed out scantly dressed female patient lies in the background were taken at New Year’s Eve while the doctor was on shift at the emergency centre.

The doctor then posted them on her facebook profile and apparently even made malicious remarks about the clothes her patient wore.

The Ministry of Health also condemned the event and launched an investigation into the mattr. It said it has contacted the family of the girl and offered them legal support and advice on their patients rights.

“This is a very unpleasant situation for the girl and for the whole family,” Health Minister Bujar Osmani told the press.

The Council of Honor of the Medical Chamber also condemned the pictures.
