Pro-Govt Media Inflame Nationalist Hysteria in Macedonia

Pro-government media outlets are becoming ever more violent in their language as they attempt to keep protests going on the streets against the formation of an opposition-led government.

The Macedonian mainstream media's propaganda war against the proposed opposition-led coalition government is becoming increasingly nationalistic in tone.

The public is being warned that should the opposition Social Democrats, SDSM, come to power, ethnic Albanians would take over parts of the country, Macedonians would be forced to learn Albanian and fined if they fail.

The country's flag, anthem and coat of arms will all be changed to meet Albanian demands and army and police insignia, along with the national currency, will all become bilingual.

All of this is being served up with the oft-repeated conclusion that this would lead to Macedonia's total and utter demise.
