All the moves of the ruling centre-right VMRO DPMNE party suggest that they are preparing for an election campaign so one should not be surprised if there are early general elections this autumn, Branko Crvenkovski, the leader of the largest opposition party, the Social Democrats, told a recent session of the central committee of the party.

There was great disappointment, sorrow and tears in the Hague courtroom yesterday after the ICTY Appeals Chamber delivered the final verdict in the case of Macedonian police officer Johan Tarculovski. Tarculovski's conviction and 12 year prison sentence for crimes committed during the 2001 Macedonian armed conflict were upheld.

The constitutional court has decided to probe the legality of several buildings and monuments planned as part of the government funded project for the revamp of the capital, dubbed “Skopje 2014”, the court’s spokesman Jugoslav Milenkovic told media. Macedonian architect Miroslav Grcev, who filed the appeal against the project, hopes to prove that in many cases the legally required decision-making procedure was omitted.
