The newly proposed law on wine would put too much power in the hands of the Agriculture Ministry, local farmers say for the daily. In order to plant new grapes, produce wine or sell “rakija” [brandy], the farmers will have to seek written permits directly from the Agriculture Ministry, according to the proposed law. A permit is needed even if a farmer wishes to change the variety of grapes he produces.

UTRINSKI VESNIK

Many faculties, elementary and high schools were left without central heating on Monday morning despite the freezing temperatures and snow outside. The heating was turned off because of outstandings debts owed by these institutions to Skopje’s central heating provider “Toplifikacija”. The state-owned company announced it would turn the heat back on but urged for the debts to be paid as soon as possible.
