Economy and employment to dominate local elections; Journalists demand accountability over parliament incident

For the first time at local elections in Macedonia, a global issue like employment will be dominant during the campaign. The party campaign slogans and the party platforms indicate that the economic issues will be put ahead of the political ones, the daily says. Promises of new employments will be the main weapon that the mayoral candidates will use in order to gather support in the next 20 days of election campaign for the March 24 vote.

Macedonian journalists demand determining responsibility for their expulsion from parliament during the December 24 incidents, before they resume talks with the government on which Brussels insists. The Macedonian Association of Journalists, ZNM, says they are ready to resume the talks which they left in protest over the incident, but only after the government determines and sanctions the ones who gave orders for the forceful removal of reporters.
