DNEVNIK

While other countries invest in high speed super modern trains, the locomotives and carriages in Macedonia are up to 40 years old, badly maintained and better fitted for museums, the daily observes. This month there were two train accidents in the country that fortunately did not result in loss of life.

UTRINSKI VESNIK

The head of the Macedonian Islamic Community, Sulejman Rexhepi, has never spoken to journalists of the British newspaper The Sunday Times, his office said in a written statement to the media. Rexhepi was cited in the newspaper as saying that radical Islamists had taken over control of four mosques in the Macedonian capital Skopje.

VREME

The junior government party, the ethnic Albanian Democratic Union for Integration, DUI, said it will soon propose a strategy for solving the Athens-Skopje name row. The party urged the political players in the country to strive towards building unity on this issue, which is stalling the country’s NATO and EU membership bids.
