A criminal gang of radical Wahhabi Islamists operates in Macedonia and it especially active in the capital Skopje, the Islamic Religious Community in the country has said. The Wahhabi group has tried to carry out coups in several mosques in the capital, the Islamic Relgious Community says.

The recent ruling by the Constitutional Court will not stop the construction of several buildings and monuments as part of the controversial state-funded project for the revamp of the capital, dubbed “Skopje 2014”, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said yesterday.
He said that although the court decided that the objects were illegally included in the city's building plan, most of them will continue to be constructed because they already have building permits.

After the decision of the Constititutional Court on the illegality of 19 buildings and monuments that are part of the “Skopje 2014” revamp project, the Ministry of Culture and Skopje’s central municipality say that they will continue the construction.
Law experts told the daily that the failure to obey the court decision and stop the construction could bring five year prison sentences to the persons in charge.
