The debate on the possibility of early elections in the country will be accompanied by a debate on a potential change to the election model that would allow citizens to choose for themselves who will be nominated for the legislature from open lists of candidates. Experts say this scenario is unlikely.

While the European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe agree that the Macedonian language, which is spoken by the majority in the country, should be learned from earlier age, they argue that a wider debate on the issue is due before introducing the measures. This stands in a joint press statement by the OSCE and several ambassadors of EU countries in Macedonia.

Warnings from Brussels that Macedonia could destabilize if its EU and NATO integration continues to be stalled, arrive too late.
