The Macedonian prime minister has surprised the visiting members of the European Parliament. German MEP Jorgo Chatzimarkakis told media that he was pleasantly surprised by PM Gruevski’s positive approach to the name issue but warned that the problem must be solved within the next few months.

PM Gruevski has shown visiting European Parliament deputies his country's readiness to solve the name row between Skopje and Athens. Slovenian MEP and parliamentary rapporteur on Macedonia, Zoran Taler, told media in Skopje that the dispute was no longer a bilateral issue but one that concerned the stability of the region, which is part of Europe.

The ongoing strike of Greek customs workers has caused utter chaos at Macedonian border crossings with the country. Some 300 cargo trucks are stranded at the largest crossing, Bogorodica-Evzoni, and there is no room for more.
