The level of water that has flooded the countryside surrounding several villages near the town of Bitola continues to rise along with the fear among the local population for the consequences of the extreme weather. The floods spread over 10.000 hectares of fertile ground following several days of heavy rain.

The Democratic Union for Integration, DUI, the ethnic Albanian partner in the centre right VMRO-DPMNE led government, had no knowledge of the Skopje 2014 project for the revamp of the capital, unnamed government sources from the party have told the daily. Although Culture Minister Elizabeta Kancevska Milevska has defended the merits of the project, the sources says that no government session was held to discuss it.
