No one, including the junior ruling party the Democratic Union for Integration, the main opposition Social Democrats, and the NGOs who harshly criticized the government project for the revamp of the capital, dubbed “Skopje 2014”, has said whether or how they plan to deter the VMRO-DPMNE led government from changing the city downtown into classical and baroque styles.

Andrew Feldman, the chief executive of the British Conservative Party and one of the closest aides of British opposition leader David Cameron, won a contract to build one of the Macedonia’s few five-star hotels despite having no previous experience of building or running a hotel, the newspaper cites the British Daily Telegraph as saying. Conservative leader David Cameron has been one of the most vocal backers of Macedonia being allowed to join the EU and NATO.
