Macedonia finances Albanian holiday, UN "name" mediator visits Macedonia

The government in Macedonia is silently financing the celebration of the 100 anniversary of the Albanian independence, says the daily. The financing goes through ministries and state services that are run by members of the Albanian junior ruling Democratic Union for Integration, DUI. This happens after Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said that his government had no intention to finance celebrations of other countries. Albanians make one quarter of Macedonian polulation.

The UN mediator in the Greek-Macedonian “name” dispute, Matthew Nimetz  arrived yesterday in Skopje at a meeting with country’s leaders, the daily says. However, he carries no new name proposal. Yesterday afternoon Nimetz talked to the Macdonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski. After Skopje, Nimetz later this week visits Athens.
